A redesign is due

I'm not sure how long ago was the last time I did any substantial work on the structure and design of this website. It all started as a Jekyll blog which didn't go very far. Last October I rewrote it as a Gatsby site. I'm a big fan of Gatsby, in case you hadn't noticed.

I'm dialing up my job search and I've realized that my portfolio page needs to move from to do to done. In part, the delay comes from not being quite sure about what design I want to settle with. I'm not that skilled at design anyway, coding is where I'm most comfortable. But doing something challenging can be quite fun. And there's also the job search ๐Ÿ˜….

I've been playing around a bit and I think I'm going to go for something like the current Glitch and DEV designs. Very colorful, high contrast, a bit chunky and lots of borders! I've never done a design like that, so it will be a great stretch.

I'm also thinking of putting everything---articles and projects---into a single responsive grid that can be filtered and searched. Under the hood, I'll also probably be making some changes to the structure of the code. Probably migrate from using Markdown to MDX and possibly split the site into theme and content. I also want to rethink categories, tags and slugs for all of the content.

I'm sure there's many details I'll have to figure out, but I'm excited by the project. Let's see what I manage to create ๐Ÿ˜‰.
